Kenya: India provides USD 250 million credit

On 5 December, India extended to provide USD 250 million for the modernisation of agriculture in Kenya. This comes after Kenyan President William Ruto’s three-day visit to India aimed to expand ties between the two countries. Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, stated:  “As two agricultural economies, we have agreed to share experiences in this field. We have decided to extend a Line of Credit of $250 million for modernisation of the agricultural sector in Kenya. According to the needs of our times, we will increase partnership in innovation and technology.” Both countries have agreed to carry out joint military exercises and collaborate on counter-terror projects. The two countries also signed five agreements and issued a vision document for maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean.
